I am a huge fan of your column. I always read it from top to bottom with joy, sometimes tears and lots of laughter.

You show me time and time again that you cannot be categorized so easily. You are sensitive and articulate and it is fascinating to read your work.

I have read your reporting and thought you were good … but now you come up with something new in your “National Sunset Day” piece. Lyrical, poetic and great evocation of the magic of nature. It’s the kind of writing that can take one to the places they can’t physically reach.
Louise Wilson
I read your piece on (camp)fires … It really took me away from the chaotic race of the city to dreaming of the campfire with all its serenity.

Some of your more recent columns have really gotten to me, and I just want you to know that they have me thinking. Yours is one thought-provoking column, I have learned much from it.

Your wit, sensitivity and your honesty shines through in the words that you write in your weekly column. How refreshing it is. I appreciate those words.

I think it’s great that you put so much of yourself into your writing and that you are willing to open up and let the reader into your personal life.

You wrote a fabulous column, “St. Valentine had it all figured out.” Made me laugh and laugh. Your flare and sense of humor are remarkable.

I just finished reading (your column). I think it has to be one of the most funny and ingenious pieces of writing I’ve seen in a long time.

Dear soon to be governor, senator, congressman Marcy. This is to inform you that soon you will be receiving a contribution of my last ten bucks for your worthwhile campaign.
Bill Duncan
What in the world are you worrying about this small pond, sounds like we have a presidential candidate. It is the only uplifting thing I’ve seen about this election. Thanks for a good laugh. We needed one.
Taryn Lucero
Darren Marcy you have my vote! I think the “O” could also stand for “Oh my gosh, there really is something out there worth voting for.”

Darren Marcy did an excellent job covering this convoluted topic. In a short space, he tried to explain how historic predator-control policies have influenced current policies, based on a slide show presentation I gave at the Range Net conference (Boulder, Colo., fall 2003). Mr. Marcy brought context from a New Mexico perspective to an issue that I tried to cover on a national basis, using several Colorado examples. I think Mr. Marcy covered the topic well. I think his understanding and conveyance deserve kudos. I think his article is informative and easily understandable.

I wish to express my appreciation for the factual and non-biased reporting that you demonstrated in this article. As you well know, guns, gun control and right to armed self-defense can excite a great amount of passion in many people, both pro or con.
Barry Adams
I wanted to compliment you on the well-researched article on the new concealed carry permits being issued. There was a lot of interesting info in there.

"We would like to express our appreciation for the wonderful article you wrote regarding Vallecito Lake. It was apparently picked up by the Associated Press and has been appearing in a number of newspapers around the southwest over the last couple of months. Our chamber has experienced a tremendous response as a result of your article. We thank you very much for having visited our area and written such a nice story. Please come back and stay with us again."

Reviews
Thank you for your generous assessment of my book. Your summary was concise, and your statement of my arguments was true and clear. I even agreed with your description of the writing style as “dry” and “tedious.” If truth be told, I would describe it that way myself – however, I must raise the defense that one must write like a pompous academic from time to time to survive in this business.
